New Delhi to Agra.....

I organised private transport from Delhi to Agra thanks to a workmate as none of the trains, internal flights or tours lined up with my disorganised planning regime.

My driver Lalan advised me that driving in India required 3 things: 'A good horn, good brakes and good luck!'

The roads were like all of the chaos of any overpopulated Asian city. Loud, polluted and with no rules and lots of potentially scary encounters.

But the freeway from Delhi to Agra was surprisingly well built and organised so once out of the chaotic metropolis of Delhi there were good roads and little traffic.

Like all major highways in Australia I was amused to pass through 3 toll booths. Some things are just universal it seems.

Lalan proved a charming host and runs his own private tour company called Delhi Private Tours.

For a woman travelling alone it was the perfect solution and had me in Agra door to door in under 3 hours in a comfortable air conditioned car.
